RPC SERIES OWNER’S MANUAL
DETAILED OPERATION AND CONFIGURATION
________________________________________________________________________________
45
When you enter the current password
correctly, the RPC responds:
Enter new password (<= 8 characters) >
Enter a new password (maximum field
length, 8 alpha-numeric characters),
followed by <cr>. The RPC responds with:
Confirm by Re-Entering New Password:
Re-enter the new password identically to the
first entry. The password feature is case
sensitive.
If you fail to re-enter the new password
correctly, the RPC responds indefinitely
with “Confirm by Re-Entering New
Password:” until the new password has been
re-entered correctly. A carriage return will
exit to user menu without making any
changes to the password. If you re-enter the
new password correctly, the RPC returns to
the configuration menu.
NOTE:
Entering a null password (<cr>) for a particular user will
act to disable login requirement of a password for that user. Thus,
if username and password prompts are enabled, it is possible to
configure a unit to allow nonauthenticated access to some users
while requiring a password from others.
