Chapter 7 Techniques in Programming
Techniques for Faster Cycle Time
Increase front and back shuttle speeds from MISC screen. This is the speed shuttles will travel when washing front and
back of vehicles. Care should be taken to ensure that front and rear of vehicles are coming out clean, when increasing
these speeds.
Remove any unnecessary fill times, typical washes configured for speed will only have fill times for triple foam, and other
waxes. All others may have 00.0 fill times.
Use friction/rinse passes, this allows faster normal rinse passes.
Use a tri-foam detergent instead of a tri-foam wax. When a detergent is used, it can be applied before the friction passes
instead of after the friction passes. This helps with rinsing and reduces the number of passes.
Increase front speed of even numbered friction passes. This speed occurs after exit wheels are no longer in contact with
vehicle. This makes the machine rapid to home to start next pass.
If bay length is long, applying wax and spot free through exit arches can improve throughput.
Blend some applications when appropriate for the package. For example, blend presoak and Sudzer into a single pass on
lower cost packages.
Increase FRONT, MIDDLE, and BACK speeds. Care should be taken to confirm faster speed is not affecting cleaning or
rinsing.
Increase HIGH RANGE in torque settings of top or side wheels. This increases widow size of acceptable torque range.
This may be combined with Lower operating torque setting. Care should be taken to confirm cleaning and/or wheels not
aggressive on vehicle.
Saving Wheel Soap Chemical
Application configurations AC1 to AC6 can operate friction applications without Automatic Soap, this is SIDE TOP RINSE
from dropdown box. Once set in this mode, utilize FS (from start) and FE (from end) settings to manually configure outputs.
ON FS 20 and OFF FE20 are acceptable start points. Machine ships with AC3 setup as friction rinse already. This is
typically a modification to AC1 (normal friction application).
Reducing WETDOWN MAX TIME from MISC Screen also reduces wheel soap usage. Take care to ensure wheels are wet
down enough for first vehicle after allowed to dry.
Reducing Number of Site Photo-Eyes
Using enter door photo-eye to control all function as vehicles pulling into bay reduces site required photo-eyes. The enter
door photo-eye can control all three entrance operations and enter door control simultaneously. The same is true of the
exit door photo-eye. Onboard door controls required if controlling doors. The on/off conditions and all delays can be
configured via HMI.
