9 Keypads, keyswitches, keyfobs and transmitters
To turn areas on and off, users and the system can use one or a combination of the following:
– Keypads, page 58
– Keyswitches, page 62
– RADION keyfobs and Inovonics pendant transmitters, page 64
The control panels provide up to the following number of areas:
– B9512G. 32
– B8512G. 8
Refer to Areas and accounts, page 17 for a description of areas.
9.1 Keypads
Keypads are four-wire powered devices used to operate the system and show system status.
The control panels provide up to the following number of keypads:
– B9512G. 32, including up to 16 SDI keypads
– B8512G. 16, including up to 16 SDI keypads
SDI2 keypads connect to the SDI2 bus on the control panels using terminals PWR, A, B, and
COM.
SDI keypads connect to the SDIx bus on the control panels using terminals PWR, A, B, and
COM. You must use RPS or the Installer Services Portal programming tool (available in Europe,
Middle East, Africa, and China) to configure the SDIx bus to communicate as an SDI bus.
You can connect more than one keypad to the control panel by wiring them in series.
The control panel sends a trouble report if it loses communication with a keypad. A message
shows on all keypads.

9.1.1 Keypads overview
B942/B942W
The keypad has a credential reader, a presence sensor, one output, four supervised inputs, a
graphical interface for controlling the system, and touch screen keys for data or command
entry.
Each sensor loop is assigned a point number. The keypad transmits sensor loop status to the
control panel individually. The control panel detects open, short, normal, and ground fault
circuit conditions on the keypad sensor loops.
B930
The keypad features a bright five line display and eight softkeys. It has dedicated function
buttons for common commands.
B926F
The keypad is a fully supervised SDI2 device for fire applications. The keypad display and
sounder alert to a fire alarm, a fire trouble, or fire supervisory events as they occur. The
keypad includes fire status indicators and fire function keys.
