Press until your are back to the Measurement Set-up menu.
14. Move the cursor to Gain. Press . Use and to select Input and
Output Gain menus respectively. For each of these specify the following:
● Input Gain = 30dB
● Output Gain = 0dB
15.Move the cursor to the Fine Gain menu. At the bottom of the screen you will see
the current value at the AC output. Adjust the value using so that the AC
output value reads 100mV.
16. Press .
You will see that the measured value for the acceleration (RMS) appears at the
bottom of the screen. The units which appear depend on how Lin./dB Read-out is
specified. Note that you can change any Main-menu parameter, or stop the meas-
urement, from this measurement screen by moving the cursor to “To main set-up”
and pressing .
The value at the AC output appears just above the RMS read-out.
In Display Mode, Digits + Select which you chose in (10) above, a number of meas-
urement parameters are accessible and can be selected without leaving measure-
ment mode. In the next example, some of the parameters listed above the level
reading will be changed in this way.
6.4.2 Overloads
Overloads can be an indication of a DC overload (“DET OVL” or “CM OVL”) or of
an AC overload (“SIG OVL”).
1. From the measurement mode achieved in 6.4.1 above, move the cursor up to
Input Gain. Press . The * which appears to the right of the cursor indicates
that this field is now selectable. Use to increase the gain to 60dB.
If “SIG OVL” does not appear, try pressing (this moves you back to the
Digits + Select mode menu, and move the cursor to Output Gain. Press ,
and use to increase the output gain until “SIG OVL” appears on the
screen.
