Step 6: Modify a Blood Pressure Cuff
Juno’s blood pressure can be taken using non-invasive monitoring techniques, but first you must
modify a standard blood pressure cuff.
You need:
•
1 St
andard adult blood pressure cuff
• S
cissors
•
T
-shaped blood pressure adapter (included)
•
Ca
ble ties (included)
Modified Blood Pressure Cuff
To modify a standard blood pressure cuff:
1. Cut the tubing attached to the gauge approximately 9 cm from the cuff.
2. Locate the T-shaped blood pressure adapter.
3. Insert the barbed connectors into the cut ends of the blood pressure cuff tubing.
4. Secure the tubing connectors with cable ties, and trim the cable ties with scissors.
5. Connect the extension from the long end of the T-shaped blood pressure adapter to
the
NIBP p
ort on Juno’s right side.
6. Attach the blood pressure cuff to Juno’s arm.
Note: Learners are not able to auscultate the blood pressure using a stethoscope.
