Maintenanceandadjustments

Donottrytoservicethismachineunlessyouhaverst
readandunderstoodthesafetymessagesandinstruc-
tionsfeaturinginthismanual.

Whencarryingoutserviceworkalwayswearsuitable
attire.Avoidloose-ttingclothing.
•
Releasepressurecompletelyinthehydraulicsystem
beforedisconnectingthehydrauliclines.Hydraulicoil
escapingunderpressurecancauseseriousinjury.
•
Beforedoingmaintenanceworkonthemachine,shut
downtheengineandallowittocooldown.Otherwise,
youcouldbeburned.
•
Beforecommencinganyworkonthemachine,placea
"Donotoperate"tagontheright-handcontrolarm.

Alwaysweareyeprotectionwhenusingatoolthat
mightprojectmetalparticles.Useahammerwitha
softface,suchascopper,forinstallingpins.
•
Poorlycarriedoutmaintenanceoradjustmentscan
causeseriousinjuries.Ifyoudonotunderstanda
servicingoradjustmentprocedure,consultyourCASE
CONSTRUCTIONDealer.
•
Iftheattachmentisraisedorifthemachinemoveswith-
outanoperator,seriousinjurycanresult.Beforecar-
ryingoutmaintenanceonthismachine,proceedasfol-
lows:
Parkthemachineonat,levelground.
Lowertheattachmentuntilitisrestingontheground.
Lowerthedozerblade(ifequipped)untilitrestsonthe
ground.
Stoptheengineandremovetheignitionkey.
Lockthetrackstopreventanymachinemovement.
•
Anyunauthorizedmodicationsmadetothisma-
chinecancauseseriousinjury.Donotundertake
anymodicationswithoutrstconsultingyourCASE
CONSTRUCTIONDealer.Anymodicationsmade
mustbeinconformitywiththetechnicalspecications
ofthemachineandanycurrentsafetylegislationre-
quirements.
•
Certaincomponentsofthemachinearesubjectto
typeapproval.Whenreplacingsuchcomponents,it
ismandatorytomakesurethattheyconformtoreg-
ulations.UseonlygenuineCASECONSTRUCTION
parts.
•
Pressurizedhydraulicuidorgreasethatpenetrates
theskincancauseseriousinjury.Taketheneces-
sarysafetyprecautions(safetyclothingandprotection
forfaceandhands)toavoidsuchrisks.Also,before
usingtheseproducts,readthemanufacturer'sinstruc-
tionsconcerningtheiruse.Ifhydraulicuidpenetrates
theskin,calladoctorimmediately.
•
Coolantsolutionistoxic.
Avoidcontactwithskin,eyes,andclothing.
Antidote:
External:rinsethoroughlywithwaterandremove
soiledclothes.
Internal:donotinducevomiting.Rinsethemouthout
withwater.Seekmedicaladvice.
Eyes:rinsethoroughlywithwaterandseekmedical
advice.
•
Thepressureinthetracktensioncylindersishigh.Fol-
lowtheproceduredescribedinthismanualcarefullyfor
increasingorreducingtracktension.
•
Whencarryingoutaweldingoperationontheunder-
carriageorupper-structurecarriageasauthorizedby
CASECONSTRUCTIONandinaccordancewiththe
instructions,disconnectthebatteries,disconnectthe
alternatorB+andD+terminalwires,andconnectthe
weldingapparatusgroundcabletothecomponenton
whichtheweldingoperationistobeperformed.Never
connecttheweldingapparatustotheundercarriage
whenweldingontheupper-structure(orvice-versa).
Neverconnecttheweldingapparatusgroundtoa
componentofthehydraulicsystem.
•
Whenusingcompressedair,takethenecessarypre-
cautionstoprotectyourface.
•
Cleanthemachineregularly.Accumulationsofgrease,
dirt,anddebriscancauseinjuriesordamagethema-
chine.
•
Periodicallyinspectthefasteningofthemaincompo-
nents,aspartofthemachinemaintenanceprogram:
counterweight,swingbearing,andoperator'scompart-
ment.Intheeventofproblems,consultyourCASE
CONSTRUCTIONDealer.
•
Iftheaccumulatorisnotfunctioningcorrectly,consult
yourCASECONSTRUCTIONDealer.Nevertryto
carryoutanyservicingoperationontheaccumulator.If
thisinstructionisnotfollowedseriousinjurycanresult.
•
Theaccumulatorischargedwithnitrogenunderhigh
pressure.Donotweldorallowamestocomenearto
theaccumulator.
•
Thereishighpressurefuelinthefeedlinewhenthe
engineisrunningandimmediatelyafterithasbeenshut
down.Waitfortwominutesafterengineshutdown
beforeyoudoanymaintenanceorinspectionstoallow
thepressuretodropintheline.
•
High-voltageischargedtothecontrollerand/ortothe
injectorwhiletheengineisrunningandimmediately
afterithasbeenshutdown.
Donottouchthecontrollerortheinjector.
Ifitisnecessarytotouchthemformaintenancepur-
poses,consultyourCASECONSTRUCTIONDealer.
