5.01 Inverter Design
What does the word inverter mean?
The term inverter refers to the ability to change DC power into AC. Inverter power supplies immediately rectify
the incoming AC to DC, and then the transistors create a higher frequency AC. The higher frequency AC then
goes on to a much smaller main transformer than in a conventional power supply. The AC is then rectified
to extremely smooth DC. The diagram to the below shows the basic electrical wiring of a DC output inverter
power supply.
