46 Tempest®2400 2-Channel Wireless Intercom System
Call Funcon
There are two call methods available in Tempest. The rst uses the CALL buon to send call signals to any BeltStaon or
hard wired user on the acve channel. The second method is referred to as “Call On Talk” and uses the BeltStaon TALK
buon to iniate a call signal. However, the “Call On Talk” feature works independently from all other BaseStaon call
sengs and can be used to send call signals through intercom channels to aached radios or matrix.
To enable the CALL buon, press MENU, select “Set Controls, select “Call Buon,and select Enable. This is the default
seng.
To set the “Call Alert” preference, press MENU, select “Set Controls,” and select “Call Alert.” Choose to receive a call signal
alert with an Audible tone in the headset, or with a vibraon of the BeltStaon or Both. The default seng is Both.
To iniate a call, select a channel for talking with the CH A or CH B buons and acvate the TALK buon. Press and hold
CALL for as long as you want the call signal to go out on the channel. A call signal will be received by users who are listening
on the same channel that originates the call signal.
To enable the “Call on Talk” feature, press MENU, select “Set Controls”, then Talk Buons”, then “HW Call on Talk”, and
select Enable. The default seng is Disable.
Program Volume Control
Auxiliary IN can be used to bring program or other audio into the Tempest BaseStaon. Audio from the Aux IN port is routed
only to wireless users and is not routed out to the hard wired system.
Program Volume allows each BeltStaon to control the mix of program audio (Aux IN) it receives from the BaseStaon.
To enable “Program Volume”, press MENU, then “Set Controls”, then “Program Volume” and select one of three opons:
1. O - the BeltStaon receives no program audio.
2. Absolute - the BeltStaon receives program audio at a level independent of the intercom levels.
3. Relave - the BeltStaon receives program audio at a level relave to the maximum intercom volume seng, regardless of
channel. Scroll to the opon that applies to your applicaon and press ENTER to save. Your selecon will be indicated
with a check mark to the le of the selecon.
To adjust the Program Volume on the BeltStaon, hold the ENTER buon and then turn either of the volume knobs. The
display screen will display “Program Vol” and the numeric level of the volume.
A call signal from the CALL buon is sent only when the Talk buon is
enabled, and only on the channel selected for Talk.
When “Relave” is selected, the program volume is relave to the highest
level intercom channel on the BeltStaon. Thus, when listening to program
audio when intercom volume on channel A was at 15 and channel C was at
10, the program volume would be 15. If that intercom level is lowered
below 10, then your new program volume would then correspond to
channel Cs volume level (10).
