iSelect Roaming – Selecng a BaseStaon
Installaons with mulple BaseStaon coverage zones oen require users to move from one work zone to another
throughout the day. One of the ways Tempest handles these transions is with iSelect On-Command Roaming®. Using
iSelect, a user can easily change their communicaon from one BaseStaon to another BaseStaon in just a few seconds.
Conrm that the BeltStaon has been paired with all required BaseStaons.
• Conrm that there is an available slot on the desired BaseStaon. If no slot is open, power OFF one of the
connected BeltStaons, wait for 15 seconds, and proceed.
• Press MENU and select “Select Base.” Scroll to the desired BaseStaon and press ENTER. Press MENU to exit.
• Tempest Wireless BeltStaons remember the last 64 BaseStaons to which they have been paired.
Seamless Roaming - BeltStaon Conguraon
Installaons with mulple BaseStaon coverage zones oen require users to move from one work zone to another
throughout the day. Unlike iSelect Roaming, Seamless Roaming allows users to roam freely from one zone to another
without any manual adjustment on their part. The BeltStaon will decide when it is me to change from one coverage zone
to another.
• Conrm that the BeltStaon has been paired to all the required BaseStaons in the designated coverage zones.
• Set up each BeltStaons Roaming Group. Press MENU, select “Roaming,” then “Roaming Group,” and then scroll
to and select each BaseStaon that should be included in the group. To select, press ENT when cursor is next to
BaseStaon name. Up to 16 BaseStaons may be selected.
• To enable roaming, Press MENU, select “Roaming,” then “Roaming Group,” and select Enable Roaming. This will
enable the BeltStaon to roam to all selected BaseStaons. When not enabled, the BeltStaon will operate as a
normal BeltStaon on one single BaseStaon.
• To disable roaming, simply select a single BaseStaon from the list.
The Roaming Bias adjusts the parameters that determine when a BeltStaon will seek out a new BaseStaon. A BeltStaon’s
roaming decision is driven by a combinaon of link quality and me. It is recommended that Medium, (the default seng),
be used in most cases when seng up the system.
To Adjust the Roaming Bias (if needed), press MENU, select “Roaming,” and set Roaming Bias to one of the following:
• High: Looks more frequently for other BaseStaons in the Roaming Group.
• Medium: Default seng for Seamless Roaming
• Low: Looks less frequently for other BaseStaons in the Roaming Group.
