Chapter 7 Maintenance and Disassembly
The following section describes the maintenance and reassembly procedures for the patient monitor. Only
qualified service personnel (biomedical engineers or technicians) should open the monitor housing, remove
and replace components or make adjustments. If your medical facility does not have qualified service
personnel, contact Comen.
Caution
High voltage -- Voltages dangerous to life are present in the instrument when it is connected to the mains
power supply. Do not perform any disassembly procedures with power applied to the instrument. Failure to
adhere to this warning could cause serious injury or death.
7.1 Tools
The following tools may be used during the removal and replacement of parts:
● Cross screwdrivers
● Probe forceps
● Forceps
● ESD mat and wrist strap
7.2 Disassembly preparation
Make the following preparations before disassembling the monitor:
● Stop monitoring the patient, turn off the monitor, disconnect the AC power cables and all externally
connected accessories and other connections.
● Remove the battery.
● Before disassembly, the maintenance staff need to perform thorough anti-static preparation to prevent
damage to the electronic parts.
● Please disassemble the instrument in a certain order and do not force it to prevent irreversible damage
to the instrument.
● Please make sure all connecting cables are unplugged before disassembly.
● Please sort out the removed screws and other parts for easy access during reassembly and to avoid loss.
● Please place the disassembled materials separately according to the module, to avoid not finding the
materials or using the wrong ones when reassembling.
● When reassembling, please be sure to use the right screws. The instrument could be harmed if the screws
do not match the kind and are driven in.
● Please make sure that all the cables of the previous component are connected before assembling the
next component. If you neglect any, the instrument won’t function correctly once the assembly is
finished.
● In the event that the instrument needs to be waterproof, make sure the waterproof strip is correctly fitted
