One should always bear in mind, therefore, that the test surface can be used only when all
the grout has been removed with a grinder and the concrete exposed.
Old, and consequently hardened, concrete will also have to have the surface ground down
to a depth equal to the thickness of the carbonation depth and with an area which will
suffice to carry out from 5 to 10 impact tests with the concrete hammer.
We recommend that a 750 W grinder be used with a grinding wheel diameter of 120 mm
approximately and at a speed of 6000 r.p.m.
3.3.3 Uso of the test hammer
1. Turn ON the instrument via the switch of the side panel (Ref. 4 in chapter 2.1).
2. From the MAIN MENU select the option TEST and press ENT.
3. Select the type of measurements to perform (SPARE MEASUREMENT or SET OF
MEASUREMENTS).
4. Press ENT until the message READY is shown on the screen (make reference to
chapter 3.2 for full details on the different menus/options).
5. Place the rod of the hammer on the surface of the site to be examined so that the
same is orthogonal to the surface as possible. The instrument is equipped with an
inclinometer that detects the tilt
