Choosing an Operation Mode
The DIR-895L is equipped with a software mode switch to give you more exibility in how to congure your network. You may choose to operate
this device in either Router Mode or Extender Mode.
• Router Mode shares your Internet connection. This is the factory default setting suitable for most users.
• Extender Mode extends your existing network. You may congure the DIR-895L to operate as an Access Point or a Media Bridge.
Determine your desired type of operation and adjust the mode switch before you begin your installation.
The following pages contain information about the DIR-895L's operation modes to help you determine how you wish to use it. This information
includes usage scenarios, cable diagrams, and network conguration information.
Note: If the mode switch is adjusted while powered on, the DIR-895L will reboot into the new mode after ve seconds.
