Installing the 3-cell battery - UMA/discrete
Prerequisites
If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.
About this task
NOTE: Vostro 5501 also supports 4-cell battery.
The figure indicates the location of the 3-cell battery and provides a visual representation of the installation procedure.
Steps
1. Place the battery on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly and align the screw holes on the battery with the screw holes on
the palmrest and keyboard assembly.
2. Install the four screws (M2x3) that secure the battery to the system board and palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
3. Connect the battery cable to the system board.
