Load ZB firmware
To load ZB firmware on an existing 802.15.4 module, use the following instructions. You must use the
serial interface to perform this update. The device does not support OTA updates for changing
802.15.4 to ZB firmware or vice versa.
1. Verify that your device's part number (listed on the label) is included in the list shown in the
table above.
2. Install the device in a Digi development board and connect it to your PC.
3. The next steps involve loading firmware using XCTU. To download XCTU and read detailed
instructions about it, go to:
http://www.digi.com/products/xbee-rf-solutions/xctu-software/xctu
4. When you get to the Update firmware dialog box, in the Function set area, click the ZIGBEE
option, and the newest firmware version.
5. Click Update and follow the instructions.
6. When the updating process successfully completes, your device runs ZB firmware. You can
change back to 802.15.4 firmware at any time by following the same process and selecting the
802.15.4 firmware option instead.
