6.10. TORQUE VALUES FOR STANDARD METRIC FASTENERS
Chart 1 provides tightening torque for general purpose applications using original equipment
standard hardware. Original equipment standard hardware is defined as coarse thread metric class
10.9 bolts and class 10.0 nuts and thru hardened flat washers (Rockwell "C" 38-45), all phosphate
coated and assembled without supplemental lubrication (as received) condition. The torques shown
below apply to phosphate coated bolts designed for 60% yield strength.
The torques shown below also apply to phosphate coated bolts used with phosphate coated
prevailing torque nuts, phosphate coated bolts used with copper plated weld nuts and are applied to
steel and grey iron threaded parts.
