Arranging components in the cabinet
This section describes how to install the VNX8000 storage-system hardware into the
cabinet. In general, you should install hardware starting at the lowest available rack or
cabinet space, and then work up from there.
EMC recommends placing the Storage Processor Enclosure (SPE) directly above the lower
SPS. Additional components then will be installed above these base components. Finally,
optional DAEs, covered in Add additional storage on page 55 are installed.

Note
If you plan to convert this system to a Unified system, EMC recommends leaving space for
the additional hardware. A Unified system normally has the additional File hardware
(4-10U) directly above the SPE.
Locate and install:
1. Component rails, from the bottom of the cabinet up. Adjustable rail kits and hardware
are provided for each component.
2. Components, again from bottom up.
