Redundant Power Supplies
TheS8chassissupportsfourSACPSpowersuppliesthatresideinthelowersectionofthe
chassis,inslotslabeledPS1,PS2,PS3,andPS4.Thesecond,third,andfourthpowersupplies
provideloadsharingand,dependingonhowtheS8chassisispopulated,redundancy.
TheSACPS
isa1200/1600wattpowersupply,whichhasonefrontpanelACinputpower
connector.Thetypeofpowercordshippedwiththeunitiscountrydependent.Eachpowercord
mustbepluggedintoanindependentpowercircuit.
TheSACPSiscapableofloadsharingtheS8chassis
powerload.Ifapowersupplyfails,the
otherpowersuppliessupporttheentireloadofthechassiswithoutinterruptiontonetworktraffic.

Power Supply Status
TheSACPSpowersuppliesreportinformationregardingtheirpresentoperatingstatus.This
informationincludesthefollowing:
•PowersupplyID(PS1,PS2,PS3,PS4)
•Powersupplystatus(normal/fault/notinstalled)
•Powersupplyredundancyindication(redundant/notavailable)

Auto-Ranging Power Supplies
TheSACPSpowersuppliesautomaticallyadjusttotheinputvoltageandfrequency,which
allowsforaninputvoltageof100to220 Vac,andafrequencybetween50and60 Hz.Seethe
operatingspecificationsinAppendix A.Noadditionaladjustmentsarenecessary.Forinstallations
inNorthAmericaone20A
powercordisrequired.SeeInstallingtheSACPSPowerSupplies
onpage 316formoredetails.
Note: Each S-AC-PS power cord must be connected to an independent AC power source to
handle the input power requirements.
