thesemodulesdesignedtobeexpandedwithoptionmodules.PortoptionsontheS‐Series
modulesare10/100/1000BASE‐TXRJ45ports,1000BASE‐XSFPports,and10GBASE‐XSFP+ports.

Redundant Power Supplies
TheS8chassissupportsfourS‐AC‐PSpowersuppliesthatresideinthelowersectionofthe
chassis,inslotslabeledPS1,PS2,PS3,andPS4.Thesecond,third,andfourthpowersupplies
provideloadsharingand,dependingonhowtheS8chassisispopulated,redundancy.
TheS‐AC‐PS
isa1200/1600wattpowersupply,whichhasonefront‐panelACinputpower
connector.Thetypeofpowercordshippedwiththeunitiscountry‐dependent.Eachpowercord
mustbepluggedintoanindependentpowercircuit.
TheS‐AC‐PSiscapableofloadsharingtheS8chassis
powerload.Ifapowersupplyfails,the
otherpowersuppliessupporttheentireloadofthechassiswithoutinterruptiontonetworktraffic.

TheS‐AC‐PSpowersuppliesreportinformationregardingtheirpresentoperatingstatus.This
informationincludesthefollowing:
•PowersupplyID(PS1,PS2,PS3,PS4)
•Powersupplystatus(normal/fault/notinstalled)
•Powersupplyredundancyindication(redundant/notavailable)

Auto-Ranging Power Supplies
TheS‐AC‐PSpowersuppliesautomaticallyadjusttotheinputvoltageandfrequency,which
allowsforaninputvoltageof100to220 Vac,andafrequencybetween50and60 Hz.Seethe
operatingspecificationsinAppendix A.Noadditionaladjustmentsarenecessary.Forinstallations

Note: Each S-AC-PS power cord must be connected to an independent AC power source to
