Unpacking the S8 Chassis
TheS8chassis,withorwithoutaPoEsubsystem,ispackedandshippedonaskid.Before
unpackingthechassis,examinetheoutsidepackagingforobviousdamage.
TounpacktheS8chassis:
1. Withaboxcutter,cutthetwoshippingstrapsfasteningthecorrugatedboxtotheskid.
2. Liftandremovethe
shippingboxfromtheskid.
3. Removeandsavetheaccessorypackage,documents,andcablefromthetopofthestyrofoam
cap.SeeTable 3‐1.
4. Liftandremovethestyrofoamcapfromthetopofthechassis.
5. Removetheboltsthatsecurethechassistotheskid.
6. Openthetopofthe
shippingbagcoveringtheunit,thenpullthebagdownaroundthe
chassis.
7. Liftandremovethechassisfromtheskid.
Saveallshippingmaterialsforfuturereshipping,ifnecessary.
8. Inspectthechassisforanysignsofphysicaldamage.
Ifthereareanysignsofdamage,DONOTinstallthechassis;instead,
contactEnterasys

•I/Ofabricmodules
•S‐AC‐PSpowersuppliesand20Ampline(inlet)cords(oneperpowersupply)

Note: Unpack the S8 chassis components only as needed. Leave the components in their 
respective shipping cartons until you are ready to install that component. Save all shipping 
materials in the event that the chassis has to be repacked.
