youmustswitchtheSSeriesI/OmodulefromthedefaultRX/TXStatus

LEDindicationsaredescribedintheEnterasysSSeriesModuleHardwareInstallationGuide.
Allocation of PoE Power to Devices
WhenequippedwithaPoEsubsystemandSPOEPSpowersupplies,theSSerieschassis
providesdedicatedPoEpowerforpowereddevice s(PDs)attachedtothe10/100/100 0MbpsRJ45
portsontheinstalledSSeriesI/Omodules.
TheSSeriesfirmwaredeterminesthepoweravailableforPoEbasedonpower
supplystatusand
powersupplyredundancymode.Whenanychangeismadetothepowersupplystatusor
redundancymode,thefirmwarerecalculatesthepoweravailableforPoE.
ThepoweravailableforPoEisdistributedbasedontheconfiguredallocationmode:
Automaticmode(default),inwhichavailablepowerisdistributedevenly.
Anychangein
availablepower,duetoachangeinpowersupplystatusorredundancymode,willtriggeran
automaticredistributionofpower.
Manualmode,inwhichthepowerbudgetismanuallyconfigured,usingeitherCLI
commandsortheMIBs.Thewattageconfiguredcannotexceedthetotalpoweravailableon
the
switchforPoE.
TheconfiguredwattageassignmentisusedtocalculatethetotalavailablePoEpower.Ifthe
totalavailablePoEpowerchanges,aredistributionofavailablepowerwilloccur,applyingthe
calculatedpercentage.
IfthePoEpowerneededorrequestedexceedsthepoweravailable,thesystemwillgenerateatrap
tonotifythesystemmanager.

Management of PoE Power to PDs
YoucanconfigurehowtheSSerieschassismakespoweravailabletoattachedPDs:
Realtimemode(default),inwhichthePoEcontrollercalculatesthepowerneededbyaPD
basedontheactualpowerconsumptionoftheattacheddevices.
Classmode,inwhichthePoEcontrollermanagespowerbased
ontheIEEE802.3atdefinition
oftheclasslimitsadvertisedbytheattacheddevices.Inthismode,themaximumamountof
powerrequiredbyadeviceintheadvertisedclassisreservedfortheport,regardlessofthe
actualamountofpowerbeingusedbythedevice.
