TheElectrostaticDischarge(ESD)wriststrapmustbeattachedbeforehandlingthepower
supplies,fantray,andmodulesusedintheS8chassis.Inaddition,observeallprecautionswhen
handlingthesemodulestopreventdamagefromelectrostaticdischarge.
PlacetheESDwriststraponyourwristandplugtheotherend
intothegroundingreceptacle,at
thetoprightcornerofthechassis,showninFigure 3‐11.

S‐AC‐PSpowersuppliesprovidetwopoweroutputlevelsrelativetotheinputpowersource.The
powersuppliesdraweither110Vac12Aor220Vac6Aservice,providing1200or1600wattsper
powersupply,dependingupontheelectricalinfrastructureofthesitewheretheS8chassiswillbe
located.EachS‐AC‐PSpowersupplyrequiresadedicated100‐240Vac,20Ampearth‐grounded
circuit.Powercordsshippedwiththisunitarecountry‐dependent.Eachpowercordmustbe
pluggedintoanindependentpowercircuit.
AsyouaddmodulestotheS8chassis, youmayberequiredto
installmorepowersupplies.
Additionalpowersuppliescanbeinstalledtoprovideredundancy.Thiswouldrequire
incrementalpowerbeaddedtothebasepowerrequirementsofthechassisanditscomponents,
dependingonthepowerredundancyyouwanttosupport.
Inaredundantpowerconfiguration,whenatleasttwopowersupplies
areinstalled,thepower
fromeachisevenlydistributed.Ifonepowersupplyfails,thesecondpowersupplyassumesthe
load.Additionalmodulessharetheloadasrequired.
