2-2 Installation Requirements and Guidelines
•TheS‐AC‐PSandS‐POE‐PSpowersuppliesrequireone three‐prongedpowerreceptacle
capableofdeliveringthecurrentandvoltagespecifiedin“PowerSupplySpecifications”on
page A‐2.OneACoutletonanindependentlyfusedcircuitisrequiredforeachpowersupply,
andmustbelocatedwithinthreemeters(9.84feet)ofthesite.Thepowercordusedand
type
ofoutletisdependentonthecountry.IntheUnitedStates,onepowercordwithaNEMA
5‐20Pplugisprovidedwitheachpowersupply.
•Ambienttemperatureattheinstallationsitemustbemaintainedbetween5°and40°C
(41° to 104°F).Temperaturechangesmustbemaintainedwithin10°C(18°F)per
hour.
•TokeepyourS8chassisrunningatthepropertemperature,youmayhavetovacuumany
accumulateddustperiodicallyfromtheventholesontherightsideoftheS8chassis.
Precautions
Ensurethatyouhavereadandunderstoodtheinstallationandoperationprecautionsbefore
installingtheS8chassisequippedwithaPoEsubsystem.
Warning: Install the Enterasys S-Series chassis in a Restricted Access Location only. Access to
the equipment by users must be restricted through the use of a tool or lock and key or other means
of security and is controlled by the authority responsible for the location.
