Power over Ethernet (PoE)
TheS8chassisprovidesPoEtopowereddevices(PDs)usingthePoEsubsysteminstalledontopof
theS‐Serieschassis.ThePoEsubsystemscansupportfouroreightS‐POE‐PSpowersupplies,
providingupto16,000WofPoEpower.InafullypopulatedS8chassis,PoEpowercanbe
deliveredtoPDsonallportssimultaneously.
TheS‐POE‐PSpowersupplyfeaturesincludethefollowing:
•Hotswappablecapabilityaslongasthetotalpowerneededdoesnotexceedthepoweroutput
capabilityoftheremainingS‐POE‐PSsinthePoEsubsystem.
•Providesamaximumpoweroutputof1200W
(lowline)or2000W(highline)toeachS‐Series
modulethatsupportsPoE.ThemaximumnumberofPDs(powereddevices)supportedby
eachPoES‐Seriesmoduleisdependentonthe PDpowerconsumptionasindicatedbytheir
PowerClassifications.
•ProvidespowerredundancywhentwoormoreS‐POE‐PSs
areinstalledinthePoEsubsystem
andthereisnomorethana1200W(lowline)or2000W(highline)demandbytheconnectedS‐
SeriesmodulestosupportPDs.IfoneS‐POE‐PSfailsorisremovedfromthePoEsubsystem,
theotherS‐POE‐PSscansupport
thetotalload.
