ESAT service kit
The software update is made from a PC, it has to be managed by a trained serviceman. For
this a PC program called ESAT, ESAB Software Administration Tool, is needed. The PC is
connected to the welding equipment by a cable connector and a CAN reader. From the
ESAT it is possible to update the software. ESAT also contains service functions by which it
is possible to control, change or read the different functions of the equipment.
For the installation and use of the ESAT you need a PC with operating system Windows.
The ESAT service kit contents:
• CAN adapter with connection cables
• CD with software
• Instruction manual for ESAT
USB2CAN for connection to the USB port of the PC - ordering no: 0458 847 881
NOTE!
The software of the weld data unit 1AP1 can be updated from a USB memory
stick, without using the ESAT service tool. This is described in “Welding data unit
1AP1”, page57.
Replacing the battery
Before any measures are made:
Save all program settings in the unit to a USB memory stick, as a memory back-up. How to
do, see user manual for the control panel.
Proceed as follows:
1. Turn off the power source's main switch.
2. Remove the USB memory stick.
3. Unscrew the two screws in the front and open the the unit.
4. Turn on the power source's main switch to power the RAM and clock circuit.
5. Replace the old battery with a new one, without using any metal tool. As long as the
12 V power is maintained from the power source, the RAM and clock circuit will retain
their supply without noticing the battery replacement.
6. Turn off the power source's main switch.
7. Reassemble the unit.
8. Turn on the power source's main switch.
