10. Afterafall
Have the vehicle and all components checked
for changes, damage, rm attachment and cor-
rect
functionbyaFLYERspecialistretailer.This
may, in particular, include dents and cracks in the
frame and fork, bent components and parts such
asthehandlebarsorashiftedorturnedseat.
Inspection by a FLYER specialist retailer must
cover the following main points:
• Carefullychecktheframeandfork.Deforma
-
tions can usually be detected when looking at
surfaces
fromdifferentangles.
• Aretheseat,seatpost,stemandhandlebars
stillintheircorrectpositions?Ifthisisnotthe
case, do NOT move the components back
from their changed position before loosening
the relevant screw connection. It is essential
to adhere to the prescribed fastening torque.
You can nd relevant values and information
in your FLYER handbook and in the chapter
“Operatingquick-releasefastenersandaxles”
(Chapter11.1).
• Check whether both wheels are correctly and
rmlyattachedtotheframeandfork,thatboth
thefrontandrearwheelsrotatefreely.Experts
can see from the distance between the frame
or fork and the wheel whether the wheel turns
withoutsnagging.
• Checkthatbothbrakesareoperatingfully.
• Do not set off again without having checked
that the chain is sitting securely on both the
frontchainwheelandrearsprockets.Itmust
beengagedfullywiththecogs.Ifyousetoff
andthechainjumpsoffacogyoumayfall,at
theriskofverysevereinjury.
• CheckwhetherthedisplayoftheFLYERe-bike
shows a fault message or a warning. Do not
driveyourFLYERwhenawarningisdisplayed.

Check that the display and the battery are un-
damaged.
DonotrideyourFLYERifthereare
any noticeable changes (cracks, scratches,
etc.).Haveallpartsandfunctionscheckedrst
byyourFLYERspecialistretailer.
There is a risk that humidity or water
may penetrate the motor if the housing
ofyourbatteryiscracked.Thismaylead
toshortcircuitsorelectricalshocks.Im

case
andcontactyourFLYERspecialist
retailer.Donotchargethebattery.
If you notice any changes to your e-bike, DO
NOTcontinuecycling.Donotretightenanyloose
partswithoutrstcheckingthemandalwaysuse
atorquewrench.TaketheFLYERtoyourFLYER
specialist retailer, describe the fall to them and
havethebicyclecheckedout.
11. Adjustingthe
biketotherider
Installing pedals
Always have your pedals installed or changed by
yourFLYERspecialistretailer,andfeelfreetoask
foradviceoncorrecthandling.
Pedalsmustbeinstalledwithasuitablespanner.
Please note that the two pedals are screwed on in
different directions and must be fastened with high
torque(seeyourFLYERhandbook).Applyassem
-
bly
greasetoboththreads.
Please take note that the right pedal is different from
theleft.Youcanrecognisewhichpedalbelongson
which side from the screws which turn in opposite
directions.Usually,an“R”isembossedontheright
pedalandan“L”ontheleft.Screwtherightpedal
clockwiseandtheleftpedalanti-clockwiseintothe
cranks.
The pedals must be fastened with a suit-
able
spanner.Observe the correct fas-
tening
torquewhenattachingthepedals.
Ensurethatthepedalsarettedstraight.
Ifthey arettedatanangle,thereisa
danger that they will break and cause a
fall.
For safety reasons, we strongly advise
notusingpedalswithclipsorstraps.
Ensure that you have read the manufac-
turer‘s instructions before using clipless
or
step-inpedals.Practiseclippingyour
shoesinandout of the pedals’locking
systembeforeyour rstrideinaquiet,
safeplace.Cliplesspedalswhichdonot
properlyreleaseareasafetyhazard.
Thereleaseforceofstep-inpedalscan
beadjusted.Pleasetestthisonyourrst
ride with a setting that releases easily.
Regularly clean the step-in pedals and
servicethemwithasuitablelubricant.
Thepedalsurfacesmaybeveryrough.
This improves the grip on the pedal.
Leathersolesmaybedamagedbythe
roughsurface.
