Adjustingthestem
For all stems, please read the instruc-
tions
suppliedbythemanufacturer.Only
allowFLYERspecialiststoworkonthe
handlebarsandstem.
The following stem types are installed on
FLYERS:
A-headstem
Adjustablestem
The incline of thestem can beadjusted to your
requirements.Dependingonthemodel,thelateral
or internal fastening screw must be loosened and
tightenedagain afteradjustmentwiththecorrect
fasteningtorque.
Changing the position of the stem also
changesthe position of the handlebars.
You should always be able to safely
reach and use grips and controls. Han
-
dles with a pronounced wing shape may
need
toberepositioned.
Makesurethatallcablesandleadshave
asufcientlengthtoallowforallpossible
steering movements when changing the
handlebarandstemposition.

11.3 Settingupthebrakelevers
The brake levers should be set up so
that your hands can safely and comfort-
ably apply them as a straight extension
of
yourarms.
Checkbeforeyourrstridewhichbrake
leverbrakeswhichwheel.
Somebrakemodelsallowadjustmentofthegrip
width so that brake levers can also be safely
grippedbysmallerhands.
Alwayshavebrake adjustmentsperformedbya
FLYER specialist retailer as they concern safe
-
ty-related
components.
11.4 Suspensionelements
Thechassismustbeadjustedtotherider'sweight
andtypeofusebyaFLYERspecialistretailerto
ensure appropriate function of the suspension el-
ements.
The
suspension
elements must be set up in line
withthemanufacturer’soperatinginstructions.In
principle, this means that when riding over une
-
ven ground, the action of the suspension element
must be
noticeable but it must not be allowed to
becompressedallthewaytothestop.Iftherider
stands at the middle of the bicycle, the suspen
-
sion element should compress to approximately
25%
ofthesuspensiontravel.
Please note that the suspension may
need to be re-adjusted if you ride with
heavier loads, for example during a cy-
cle
tour.
If you have purchased a FLYER MTB with full
suspension, the rear fork of the frame is mobile
and a shock absorber provides suspension and
damping.
An air chamber aids suspension. The damping
that regulates the speed during compression and
extensionofthesuspensioncanbeadjustedon
theintegratedshockabsorbers.
