Adjustingthestem
For all stems, please read the instruc-
tions
suppliedbythemanufacturer.Only
allowFLYERspecialiststoworkonthe
handlebarsandstem.
The following stem types are installed on
FLYERS:
A-headstem
Adjustablestem
The incline of thestem can beadjusted to your
requirements.Dependingonthemodel,thelateral
or internal fastening screw must be loosened and
tightenedagain afteradjustmentwiththecorrect
fasteningtorque.
Changing the position of the stem also
changesthe position of the handlebars.
You should always be able to safely
reach and use grips and controls. Han
-
dles with a pronounced wing shape may
need
toberepositioned.
Makesurethatallcablesandleadshave
asufcientlengthtoallowforallpossible
steering movements when changing the
handlebarandstemposition.

11.3 Settingupthebrakelevers
The brake levers should be set up so
that your hands can safely and comfort-
ably apply them as a straight extension
of
yourarms.
Checkbeforeyourrstridewhichbrake
leverbrakeswhichwheel.
Somebrakemodelsallowadjustmentofthegrip
width so that brake levers can also be safely
grippedbysmallerhands.
Alwayshavebrake adjustmentsperformedbya
FLYER specialist retailer as they concern safe

components.
11.4 Suspensionelements
Thechassismustbeadjustedtotherider'sweight
andtypeofusebyaFLYERspecialistretailerto
ensure appropriate function of the suspension el-
ements.
The
suspension
elements must be set up in line
withthemanufacturer’soperatinginstructions.In
principle, this means that when riding over une
-
ven ground, the action of the suspension element
must be
noticeable but it must not be allowed to
becompressedallthewaytothestop.Iftherider
stands at the middle of the bicycle, the suspen
-
sion element should compress to approximately
25%
ofthesuspensiontravel.
Please note that the suspension may
need to be re-adjusted if you ride with
heavier loads, for example during a cy-
cle
tour.
If you have purchased a FLYER MTB with full
suspension, the rear fork of the frame is mobile
and a shock absorber provides suspension and
damping.
An air chamber aids suspension. The damping
that regulates the speed during compression and
extensionofthesuspensioncanbeadjustedon
theintegratedshockabsorbers.
