Youshouldonlyreplacedamagedparts
withoriginalspareparts.
Most FLYERS use car-type valves or Schrader
valves.Thisvalvetypeallowsyoutotopupthe
tyrepressureof your FLYERe-bikeatmostll-
ing
stations.Specialistretailerswillletyouknow
whichtypeofairpumptsyourcar-typevalves.
Tubes may only be changed for identical, original

Tubeless-readytyres
SomeFLYERMTBsarettedwithtubeless-ready
tyresso thattheyare readytobe usedoff-road
too. This allows you to enjoy tried-and-tested
and simple handling, for instance when it comes
tohoserepair,butyoucanalsobenetfromthe
improved driving performance of tubeless tyres if
youwish.Thecoversinstalledatthefactoryare
pretreated with sealant for tubeless use. Once
youhave let your FLYERspecialistretailer per

the simple installation, you can enjoy im-
proved traction off road and increased puncture
protection.
Tubeless tyres must only be tted and
removed from the rim without tools, as
usingthemcouldcauseleaks.
Ifthesealantisnotsufcienttopreventa
defect, a normal tube can be used once
thevalvehasbeenremoved.
12.2 Dealingwithaattyre
Correct and safe repair of a at tyre requires
specialised e-bike knowledge and special tools.
Havetechnicaldefectsandattyresexclusively
repairedbyyourFLYERspecialistretailer.
Repairing a tyre puncture involves hav-
ing
to adjust safety-relevant compo-
nents.
Incorrectmountingofthewheels
and brakes can lead to severe falls and
injuries. We strongly advise you not to
repair a tyre puncture alone.Ask your
FLYER specialist retailer to x the tyre
punctureforyou.
Get thorough instructions from your
FLYER specialist dealer and practise
changing the wheels and tyres under
their supervision if you plan to repair
yourownattyres.Thesystemmustbe
switched off and the battery must be re
-
moved
beforechangingatyreorwheel.
Youneedthefollowingequipmenttorepairatyre
puncture:
Plastic tyre lever
Patches
Rubber cement
Sandpaper
Open-endedspannerorwrench
(for
wheelswithoutquick-releasefasteners)
Airpump
Spare tube
If your bike is equipped with hydraulic rim
brakes, proceed to remove the brakes as follows:
Ifyouhavequickreleasesforthebrakes,you
can remove a brake unit according to the man
-
ufacturer’s
instructions(seealsopage40).
Ifyoudonothaveabrakequick-releasefas-
tener,
deatealloftheairoutofthetyre.
IfyourFLYERisequippedwithadiscbrake, you
canremovethewheelwithoutfurtherpreparation.
Pleasenote:whenttingthewheel,thediscmust
be slotted between the brake linings of the brake
calliperandultimatelybecentredwithoutcontact.
Inthecaseofbackpedalbrakes, the screws on
thebrakearmofthechainstayhavetobeopened.
