Identifying Shallow Water - Navionics
With appropriate Navionics SonarChart
™
cartography inserted you can easily identify shallow
water by adjusting the Shallow Water setting.
From the Chart application:
1. Select Advanced Options from the Presentation
menu (Menu > Presentation > Advanced
Options).
2. Select Shallow Water.
3. Adjust the depth to the required value between
0 to 32.8 feet (0 to 10 metres).
The areas less shallow than the value selected
will contain red hatch pattern.

4. Select Back to close the Shallow Water
adjustment.
Creating personal bathymetry charts
using SonarChart
™
Live
With appropriate Navionics SonarChart
™
cartography inserted you can easily create high
resolution bathymetry maps, which are displayed in
real time on your MFD, using your connected depth
transducer.
1. Ensure Sonar Logs is switched On: Menu >
Presentation > Depths & Contours > Sonar
Logs
2. Switch the Tide Correction setting On, this
offsets your depth measurements using tide
height data taken from nearby tide stations.
3. Select SonarChart Live.
4. Untick the Off check box.
5. Adjust the opacity of the SonarChart Live overlay
to your desired level.
6. Select Back to close the opacity adjustment.
Selecting a density for SonarCharts
With the appropriate Navionics SonarChart
™
cartography, the density of the displayed contours
can be changed.
From the Advanced Options menu: (Menu >
Presentation > Advanced Options):
1. Select SonarChart Density.
2. Select the desired density option:

Setting up a shing range
With appropriate Navionics SonarChart
™
cartography inserted, you can set up a Fishing
Range. When set up, the depth range between the
minimum and maximum will be colored white, and
the depths outside of this range will be blue.
Note: If the Deep Water From setting has been
set to a shallower depth than the Min Fishing
Range, and the Deep Water Color setting is set
to Blue, then the area within the Fishing Range
will appear Light Blue rather than White.
From the Advanced Options menu: (Menu >
Presentation > Advanced Options):
1. Select Fishing Range: so that On is displayed.
2. Select Min. Fishing Range: and adjust the
minimum shing depth to the desired value.
3. Select Max. Fishing Range: and adjust the
maximum shing depth to the desired value.
