Note
The next steps make the high-level linearity adjustment of the Microwave
Output using a Power Meter, thermal sensor and attenuator. This process
relies on the linearity of the Power Sensor. The recommended Power Sensor
has only one level range. If using an alternative sensor, do not allow the
Power Meter to change level range for the following points.
18. Repeat steps 12 through 14 for all points requiring the use of the Power Meter
with a 6dB attenuator (the UUT text box states, Use Power Meter with 6dB
Attenuator). Set the UUT to STBY.
19. Push Back. The Microwave Output adjustment is now complete.
20. If no further adjustment processes are to be performed, push Exit>Back>Exit
to return the UUT to a normal operating state.
Microwave Output Flatness Characterization
The purpose of this process is to reduce the flatness ripple of the UUT
Microwave Output due to internal signal path mismatches and other
imperfections.
If the UUT has been dismantled this process must be performed. Otherwise this
process is optional but can be performed at any time without affecting the
performance of the unit at the adjustment points.
If the calibration stores have been cleared and not yet re-adjusted, or the UUT is
faulty or grossly mis-adjusted, this process may fail or give incorrect results.
Equipment required:
• Compatible Power Sensor, DC - 27GHz or higher, 2.92mm, 50 Ω
Note
If another Adjustment procedure was just completed, omit steps 1
and 2, below.
1. On the UUT, push , followed by the softkey Support
Functions>Calibration>Adjust Instrument.
2. Using the keypad, enter the password, and push .
3. Connect the control cable of a Rohde & Schwartz NRP-Z55 Power Sensor to
the front-panel Sensor Port 1. (Other supported NRP-Z series sensors with a
frequency capability of at least 27GHz may also be used.)
4. Attach the Power Sensor RF input directly to the UUT Microwave Output. Do
not use a cable or adapters.
5. Push Microwave Flatness softkey.
6. The screen prompts for confirmation that the above connections have been
made. Push the Yes softkey to proceed.
7. A progress bar shows on-screen and the UUT proceeds to characterize itself.
This can take up to 30 minutes, depending on whether the Low-Level
Microwave Output option is fitted.
If the measurement process produces unexpected results the process will abort
and report an error. Otherwise, upon successful completion, the characterization
data is stored internally.
