Arrhythmia detection
This option lets you choose to detect lethal arrhythmias. The Monitor detects
three types of lethal arrhythmias: Asystole, VFIB/VTACH, and VTACH. Choose yes
or no.
NOTE: If Arrhythmia detection is set to no, it is recommended to set the HR
limit alarm to CRISIS.
ASYSTOLE: Ventricular asystole occurs whenever the displayed heart rate
drops to zero.
VFIB/VTACH: occurs when the ECG waveform indicates a chaotic ventricular
rhythm.The VFIB processing is intended to detect the unique waveform
features that are present in ventricular fibrillation, ventricular flutter,
torsades de point, or multifocal ventricular tachycardia having beats that
are difficult to distinguish. The criteria for the VFIB / VTACH alarm usually
allows the algorithm to successfully identify these important arrhythmias
within 10 seconds. However, in order to maintain the desired low false
positive alarm rate, certain data conditions will occasionally cause the
analysis to require a longer period of data, sometimes 10-20 seconds or
more to assert the desired alarm.
VTACH is categorized into three age groupings:
Adult: Occurs when a run of six or more ventricular beats is detected
with an average heart rate greater than or equal to 100 beats per
minute.
Pediatric: Occurs when a run of six or more ventricular beats is detected
with an average heart rate greater than or equal to 140 beats per
minute.
Neonate: VTACH detection is not available in the neonatal setting.
Re-learn
When you choose this option, the parameter will learn the new ECG pattern and
correct the calculations of the HR/Pulse value. Use the relearn option whenever
any dramatic change has occurred in the patient's ECG pattern and when ECG
electrodes are changed or moved. The LEARNING message appears the first
time a patient is connected to the ECG parameter, when the primary lead is
changed, following long periods of excessive artifact, or when you choose the
Re-learn option from the Setup ECG menu.
Label VA
This option is active in 5-electrode configuration. You can choose the label of VA
lead from among V1, V2, V3, V4, V5, V6 or None. The default label is LEAD VA
and reverts to the default setting if discharging or admitting a patient.
