Skin Irritation
Caution!:
For very long-term monitoring (e.g., days), EGI recommends removing
and reapplying the HCGSN at least every 12 hours to improve comfort and to
decrease the risk of skin irritation or breakdown. Careful monitoring of the patient
is recommended.
Caution!:
EGI recommends limiting recordings of infants to only 1 hour to
decrease the risk of skin irritation or breakdown. Constant monitoring of the infant
is required to prevent choking or strangling, and to allow for frequent examination for
skin irritation. EGI recommends checking for skin pressure points, overturned sensors,
and redness under the chin strap every 15 minutes to maximize infant comfort.
Subject Cross-Contamination
WARNING!:
To prevent subject cross-contamination, make sure that the towels
used by the subject and those used with the GSN are kept separate. Do not use the
same towel to dry the subject’s face or hair, and then to pat the Net dry. Also do
not use the same towel for more than one subject.
