OXIDATION ANALYSIS (TIC+TOC by default) defines
BioTector’s oxidation phase analysis modes, which are
TIC+TOC, TC, FAST TC, VOC and TC - TIC. It is not possible to
run BioTector in TC, FAST TC, VOC and TC - TIC modes, if the
analyzer is built as a TIC&TOC system only. If it is necessary to
run a TIC&TOC system in any other analysis modes, please
contact the manufacturer or distributor.
When the analysis mode is changed, the system automatically
modifies several system configuration parameters and resets
them to their default values. Therefore, when this function is
entered, before the analysis type is changed, system
automatically displays a warning to inform the user about the
required changes in system settings.
Compared to the TC mode, FAST TC mode supplies a faster
response. This is achieved by injecting the base reagent into the
reactor at once, where the BASE IN 1 parameter is automatically
set to 0 pulse in System Program, Oxidation Program 1 menu.
Depending on application and the type of volatiles present in the
sample, some VOC’s may not be fully captured in FAST TC
analysis mode.
Systems, which are built with two or more analysis type options,
are shipped with the relevant system configurations, which are
available in both electronic format and as printouts. When the
user changes the analysis type of the system, the necessary
system configuration modifications needs to be carried out
following the procedures described in information sheet “M067.
BioTector Arm Configuration Upgrade Procedure”. When the
procedures are followed, the system configuration settings will
be updated automatically. Alternatively, all system configuration
modifications can be carried out manually by looking at the
corresponding configuration printout.
LIQUID ANALYSIS (TN by default) specifies BioTector’s
available liquid phase analysis modes, which are TN, TP,
TN+TP, TN+TP
r
, and TN+TP
r
+TP. When programmed as
NONE, system will not carry out any liquid phase analysis and
operate as a TIC & TOC, TC, FAST TC, VOC or TC - TIC
system only.
When the analysis mode is changed, system automatically
displays a warning to inform the user about the required
changes in system settings.
When DEMO MODE (OFF by default) is activated (ON), system
can be started to operate in demonstration mode. In this mode,
BioTector does not require any reagents or carrier gas to
operate. When BioTector is started using the Operation menus,
the relevant CO
2
peaks are generated artificially to demonstrate
the operation of the system. Because the system normal
operation is inhibited, system automatically displays a warning to
the user before the DEMO MODE is activated.
