Section 9 Troubleshooting of System Faults & Warnings
9.1 BioTector Fault Conditions
The following fault conditions activate the BioTector stop sequence, set all 4-20mA signals to the FAULT
LEVEL (1mA by default) programmed in the 4-20mA Program menu, and activate the COMMON FAULT relay
defined in Relay Program menu.
MFC oxygen flow through the Exhaust
“EX” Valve (MV1) has been below
50% of its set point for the time longer
than the “LOW O2 FLOW TIME”
defined in Fault Setup menu.
Various, for example,
Empty O
2
cylinder, O
2
supply
problem. Blocked O
3
destructor.
Blocked tube after MFC.
Faulty/blocked Exhaust Valve.
Faulty MFC.
MFC oxygen flow through the Sample
Out “SO” Valve (MV5) has been below
50% of its set point for the time longer
than the “LOW O2 FLOW TIME”
defined in Fault Setup menu.
Various, for example,
Empty O
2
cylinder, O
2
supply
problem. Faulty/blocked Sample
Out Valve. Blocked tube after
MFC. Faulty MFC.
MFC oxygen flow through the Exhaust
Valve (MV5) has been above 50% of
its set point for the time longer than
the “HIGH O2 FLOW TIME” defined in
the Fault Setup menu.
Faulty MFC.
High O
2
pressure.
04_NO REACTION
(can also be programmed as
a warning condition)
No TOC (or TC) CO
2
peak detected or
the CO
2
peak is below the “CO2
LEVEL” for 3 consecutive reactions.
See System Configuration, Reaction
Check section for details.
Acid/Base reagents are at
incorrect strength.
Acid/Base containers are empty.
Delivery problem or air bubbles in
Acid/Base lines. Acid/Base
Pumps are faulty. Circulation
Pump is not pumping.
MFC flow did not drop below the
“PRESSURE TEST FAULT” level
during the pressure test cycle. See
Sequence Program, Pressure/Flow
Test Program section for more
information.
Gas/liquid leak in the BioTector.
Valve leaking or not sealing.
Check Sample Out Valve,
Sample ARS Valve and system
fittings. Check Circulation Pump.
MFC flow did not drop below the
“PRESSURE CHCK FAULT” level
during the pressure check cycle for 3
consecutive reactions. See Sequence
Program, Pressure/Flow Test Program
section for more information.
Gas/liquid leak in the BioTector.
Valve leaking or not sealing.
Check Sample Out Valve,
Sample ARS Valve and system
fittings. Check Circulation Pump.
MFC flow did not drop below the
“PRESSURE TEST FAULT” level
during the TIC reactor pressure test
cycle in TC - TIC systems.
Gas/liquid leak in BioTector TIC
reactor or lines. Valve leaking or
not sealing. Check TIC Sample
In/Out Valves and fittings.
