If the Direct Mode was being used in the example above, the system would require 9 dedicated output
channels (3 analysis results multiplied by 3 streams). With the use of Stream Multiplex Mode, only 4 output
channels (1 stream id channel plus 3 analysis result channels) are needed.
Since the output channels in Stream Multiplex Mode change on periodical bases, there is a need for some
sort of synchronization between the BioTector and the user device. In principle, there are two synchronization
mechanisms:
Stream ID channel analog output
4-20mA READ relay digital output
As shown in figure A3.2 above, the system sets the Steam ID channel to defined level (CHANGE level =
4mA) before it changes output result channels to their new value and then Stream ID channel is set to
indicate the type of stream valve. If this synchronization is used, the user device has to sample the Stream ID
channel and search for signal stable condition before reading the Stream ID and reaction results channels.
The Stream ID channel operates in discrete levels as shown in table A3.1.

The other synchronization option is the 4-20mA READ signal, which is a digital output relay. This output has
to be assigned to a valve relay in Output Devices menu as follows:
