4. Clean the filter (located on the end of the
suction pipe) in a suitable cleaning sol- vent.
Allow the filter to dry.
5. Replace the gasket with a new one. Re-
install the fuel joint assembly and tighten the
screws firmly.
Inspecting and replacing anode(s)
Hidea outboard motors are protected from
corrosion by sacrificial anodes. Inspect the
external anodes periodically. Remove scales
from the surfaces of the anodes. Consult a
TIP:
Hidea dealer for replacement of external
anodes.
NOTICE
Do not paint anodes, as this would render t
hem ineffective.
Inspect ground leads attached to external
anodes on equipped models. Consult a
Hidea dealer for inspection and replace-
ment of internal anodes attached to the pow-
er unit.
Checking battery (for electric start
models)
WARNING
Battery electrolyte is poisonous and
caustic, and batteries generate explosive
hydrogen gas. When working near the
battery:
Wear protective eye gear and rubber
gloves.
Do not smoke or bring any other source
of ignition near the battery.
