Adverse effect to the engine can
occur if the installation position
of the outboard motor is too low.
Trim/tilt down the outboard
motor with the boat fully loaded
and stop the engine. Check that
the idle port is 150 mm (5.9 in)
or more above the water level.
The water level must be at least
100 mm (4 in) above the
anticavitation plate, otherwise
the water pump may not receive
sufficient cooling water, and the
engine will overheat.

Install the outboard motor at the stern,
at the center line of the boat.
The anticavitation plate of the
outboard motor should be 25 mm
( 1 in) below the bottom of the boat.
The correct dimensions differ
according to the type of the boats and
the configuration of the bottom of
the boats. Follow the manufacture’s
recommended installation height.
