9.3. Firmware & Communication
The E-Mon® energy meter uses sophisticated components for seamless energy monitoring.
Any disturbance to the internal arrangement of the energy meter is restricted. Ensure integrity
of the E-Mon meter in consideration to its firmware and Application during operation and
installation.
The Firmware file is embedded in the E-Mon energy meter and the users do not have access
to change it. In case of updates, the meter automatically updates Firmware version through
encrypted and signed mapping file transfer from paired mobile device. Kindly refer to Section
3.5.1.
Please do not manipulate the meter’s internal components in online or offline mode.
Ensure that the mobile application is updated with latest version as available on
PlayStore and App store.
Kindly take strict measures to safeguard the integrity of meter through Firmware,
Application and BLE communication.
The firmware updates are done automatically and access to the firmware file is
prohibited.
Switch the Bluetooth connection from a secure distance and ensure the connection is
free from interference.
Only one mobile device can be connected to the energy meter at a time. Use the
connected device and disconnect it in order to pair a new device.
Ensure that the pairing code (numeric comparison) matches on your device and the
Meter.
All the transferable (mapping and update) files are encrypted and signed.
All installations and operation shall be done considering that BLE communication are
Encrypted and serial communication are not.
The meter shall be disconnected from paired device before moving the device beyond
communicable distance.
There is no timeout for connected device. Kindly terminate the remote connection at
the end of every session.
NOTE
All devices must be enclosed in a cabinet and closed.
Restricted access to E-Meter buttons.
Attach the secure earth grounding wire to the grounding terminal of the enclosure
for safety.
Use appropriate wire as earthing to ensure the safety of enclosure and the energy
meter.
