I n st a l l in g t h e USB Sm a r t Ca b l e D r i v e r
I f your lum inom et er cam e w ith a USB t o RS232 cable you need to
install t he System SURE USB Sm ar t Cable device driver. The device
dr iver should be installed when you install t he SureTrend softwar e.
(see sect ion 5.3) . Howev er, if needed, you can follow the instr uctions
below to install t he Syst em SURE USB Sm art Cable device driv er.
1.
I nsert t he Sm art USB cable into an available USB port on
your com put er. I f t he cable is already connected to your
com put er, rem ove t he cable and plug it in again. This will
cause Windows t o det ect t he new hardware and star t t he
“ Found New Hardware Wizard” .
2.
I f the “ Found New Har dw are Wizard does not start check t he
following:
a.
You hav e sufficient perm issions to run t he wizard.
b.
Verify t here are no exist ing hardwar e problem s in
device m anager.
c.
Verify the Univer sal Plug and Play service is
running.
3.
Follow t he “ Found New Hardware Wizard” steps to install the
device dr iver.
4.
I f your com put er is connect ed t o the I nt ernet and you are
running Windows 7 or a lat er v ersion, you can search t he
Microsoft Windows Update site for the dev ice driv ers.
5.
I f your com put er is NOT connected t o t he I nt er net or you are
running Windows XP you need t o place the Sur eTrend
softw are CD int o an available dr ive. The Sm art USB Cable
device dr ivers are located on t he CD. I nst r uct the “ Found
New Har dw are Wizard” t o search t he CD when prom pted.
N OTE: t he USB drivers ar e Window s cer t ified for Windows XP,
Windows Vist a, Windows 7, and Windows 8.
