Macintosh Workstation as the System Console
The Programmable Workstation Local Attachment support allows Macintosh computers running the
SNA•ps 5250 Version 1.2 application to attach to the
9401
System Unit. Macintosh workstations are
attached through LocalTalk network connections.
Requirements:
Macintosh Plus or later-model computer with at least 4 megabytes (MB) of random access memory
(RAM) and a hard disk drive
System 7.0 or later system software
SNA•ps 5250 Version 1.2 or later
Type 6054 Workstation Adapter
in
position C of the
9401
System Unit.
Hardware Setup:
If
you
have a Macintosh workstation as the system console, perform the following steps:
1 Prepare the Macintosh workstation using the device information. For service reasons, the system
console should be within
20
feet of the
9401
System Unit.
2 Ensure that the LocalTalk cable is connected at the workstation.
3 Ensure that the workstation power cord is not plugged in the ac outlet.
4 Connect the LocalTalk cable to the connector on the workstation adapter card in position C of the
9401
System Unit. Verify that the cable is labeled at both ends.

5 Attach the power cord to the Macintosh workstation and plug the power cord into the ac outlet.
