Install Additional Devices
This chapter instructs you
to
install additional devices and power
on
workstations, printers, modems and
the external tape unit.

Do
you
have additional workstations or printers to install?
Note: If the system console
is
a twinaxial attachment with a single-port cable, 6 additional
twinaxial connections are supported. If the system console
is
a twinaxial attachment with a
two-port cable, 13 additional twinaxial connections are supported.
If
the system console
is
an
ASCII attachment, 2 additional ASCII connections are supported.

Use the twinaxial device information
to
install and connect the cables. If a service
representative
is
scheduled to install the additional devices, ensure that the installation
instructions are kept with the device.
If
you choose to perform the IPL without
tl1e
additional devices, continue with the next
step of this procedure.

Do
you
have a token-ring
or
Ethernet adapter card
in
position C of the
9401
System Unit (see
Figure
2-1
on
page 2-3)?
No
Yes
Attach the token-ring or Ethernet cable to the adapter card connector
(in
position
C).
Note:
If
you
are using
an
RJ-type jack, connect the attachment cable (part 21H1955)
between the adapter card and the token-ring or Ethernet cable.
Use the local area network communications information to connect additional cables.
If a service representative
is
scheduled
to
install the additional devices, ensure that
the installation instructions are kept with the device.
If
you choose to perform the IPL without the additional communications, continue with
the next step of this procedure.

you have additional communications devices (modem, modem eliminator, and so

or commu-
nications cables to install?

IBM
7207 Model 012 tape units, or the feature 6365 can
be attached to the
9401
System Unit.
