Save the Information on the System
This chapter provides instructions for creating a system backup tape.
If
a failure occurs that causes a loss
of system information, you should use the tape to load the information back into the system.
The tape you create in this task becomes your master copy and should
be
kept
in
a safe place.
1 Does your system have a tape unit?
Yes
No

You have completed installing the

system unit.
This ends the procedure.

Is
the system console a twinaxial or ASCII attached personal computer, IBM ThinkPad, or similar
device that has Client Access/400 support active?
No Yes
You cannot save the system with Client Access/400 support active. Use an emulation
program that does not require Client Access/400 when you save the system.
3 Do you have a tape cartridge that is labeled as the complete system backup?
No Yes
This is your backup tape. Put the tape in a safe place.
This ends the procedure.
4 You must create a system backup tape.
This procedure will take approximately .5 to 1.5 hours to complete.
5 Your system has been configured to either the normal device configuration naming convention
("NORMAL) or the System/36 device configuration naming convention
(*5
136). The naming con-
vention was specified when you ordered your system.
