Find the device description and note the name of the tape unit.
Press F3 (Exit) until you reach the AS/400 Main Menu.

you have a blank tape cartridge to back up your system?

We recommend that you purchase tape cartridges.
8 Place a label
on
the blank tape cartridge (that you are using to save the system) with the following
..)
information:
SAVHll
9 Insert the tape into the tape unit and close the door on the tape unit.
Notes:
a.
To open the door on the tape unit, press the pushbutton.
b.
The tape unit will wind and rewind the tape to set the tension. This will take approximately
three minutes. (You may proceed to the next step while the tape is moving.)
10 On the command line of the AS/400 Main Menu, select the General system tasks option and press
the Enter key.
The General System Tasks display appears.

On the command line of the General System Tasks menu, select the Device operations option and
press the Enter key.
The Device Operations menu appears.
12 On the command line of the Device Operations menu, select the Tape option and press the Enter
key.
The Tape menu appears.
13 On the command line of the Tape menu, select the Initialize a tape option and press the Enter key.
The Initialize Tape display appears.
