A.
Power Off the System
If
the
system
is
operating under OS/400, enter the PWRDWNSYS command to power off the system.
If
the
system
is
operating under dedicated service tools (DST), power off the system by selecting the
Power
off
the system option
on
the Start a Service Tool display.
If
you
cannot use these methods, see the "Power Off Using the Power Pushbutton" procedure
to
power off
the system.
Note:
If
Client Access/400
is
running
on
the system console, a delayed power-off using the
PWRDWNSYS command
is
required. Allow the user enough time to exit Windows and
STOPRTR
\F.
Any Client Access/400 applications that are running must
be
stopped before the delayed
power-off
is
complete.
Warning: Using the control panel Power pushbutton to power off the system may cause unpredictable
results
in
the data files, and the next IPL will take longer to complete.
Power Off Using the Power Pushbutton
1 Open the control panel cover.
2 The system must
be
in
Manual mode
to
power off. To select Manual mode, see Appendix
B,
"Select IPL Type and Mode"
on
page 8-1.
3 Press the Power pushbutton (white)
on
the control panel.
4 The Data/Function display shows the following:
O?
(the international power-off symbol) with the ? blinking.
5 Press the Power pushbutton (white)
on
the control panel again.
Note:
To
cancel the power-off operation, do not press the white Power pushbutton a second time.
Instead, press any other control panel pushbutton.
6 The Power
On
light blinks as the system begins powering off. The light stops blinking and stays off
when power-off
is
complete.
Does the system power off successfully?
No
Yes
! You have completed the power-off procedure.
This ends the procedure.
7 Perform the following:
a.
Press the Up (
t)
or Down ( ! ) pushbutton until function 08
is
shown
in
the Function display.
b.
Press the Enter pushbutton (blue).
c.

shown
on
the Data display.
