If the amber hard disk drive status LED for a drive is lit continuously, that drive
is faulty and must be replaced. If the green hard disk drive activity LED is
flashing, the drive is being accessed.
Note:
You might have to reconfigure the disk arrays after you install hard disk
drives. See the RAID documentation on the IBM ServeRAID Support CD for
information about RAID controllers.
Removing a CD-RW/DVD drive
To remove the CD-RW/DVD drive, complete the following steps.

1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
on page 87.
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and
all external cables.
3. Pull the server out of the rack; then, remove the cover (see “Removing the
cover” on page 90).
4. Press the release tab down to release the drive; then, while pressing the tab,
push the drive toward the front of the server.
5. From the front of the server, pull the drive out of the bay.

6. Remove the retention clip from the drive.
7. If you are instructed to return the CD-RW/DVD drive, follow all packaging
instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to
you.
