Setting the CPU Speed
This section provides instructions for setting the CPU speed. Use these instructions after
flashing the BIOS, after installing a new CPU, or to change the current CPU speed.
To set the CPU Speed:
1. Power down the system and remove the cover.
2. After you have removed the cover, set the jumper on W12 (refer to the following table).

3. Replace the cover and then start the system. When the system is started, enter BIOS
Setup and select the Main screen.
4. When jumper W12 is closed, the CPU Speed is displayed as the first setting on the Main
screen. Highlight the option, and press
ENTER. Use the plus or minus keys to increase
or decrease the CPU speed, or use the arrow keys to select from the menu.
5. When you have selected the correct speed, press
F10 to save the CPU Speed setting and
exit BIOS Setup.
6. After the BIOS settings are saved, power down the system and remove the system board
jumper W12 (save the jumper by placing it back on one pin only). The CPU Speed
selection will no longer display in the Main screen of BIOS Setup.
NOTE No speed configuration is required when adding a second processor with the same speed as
the original processor. If you forget to remove the configuration jumper after you save the
CPU speed and exit, the selection process repeats.
Updating the System BIOS
The system’s BIOS can be reprogrammed using a BIOS file. You can update the BIOS by
following the steps below:
1. After downloading the appropriate BIOS file from Intergraph’s BBS or Web site, extract
it to a bootable MS-DOS 6.X diskette.
2. Reboot your system with the MS-DOS 6.X diskette in the floppy drive. To make sure a
clean DOS environment is loaded, press the
F5 key while the message Starting MS-
DOS is displayed. After the system has restarted, the cursor displays the A:> prompt.
