Chapter 26 Troubleshooting
Ribbon-End Sensor out of order
• If the error condition 1027 "Out of transfer ribbon" is not
reported even though the printer positively is out of ribbon,
there is something wrong with the ribbon end sensor.
• The same applies if it becomes impossible to print with the
printer being set up for direct thermal printing regardless if
the transfer ribbon is removed (Error 1058 “Transfer ribbon
fi tted”).
• Check the sensor for dust or foreign objects and check that the
mirror plate is properly aligned.
• Check that the sensor’s cable is connected to P-603 on the CPU
board.
• Adjust the sensitivity of the receiver by means of potentiometer
WR-601 on the CPU board.
• Fit or remove strap on P-604 to change the intensity of the light
emitter.
Note:
In printers not fi tted with a transfer
ribbon mechanism, a strap must be
fitted on P-9:J1 to substitute the
ribbon-end sensor’s out-of-ribbon
signal, so direct thermal printing
can be used.
