Chapter 25
25. Test Mode
25.1 Description
The Test Mode comes in two versions;
A limited test mode for EasyCoder 501 S.
A full test mode for EasyCoder 501 E, EasyCoder 501 SA, and
EasyCoder 501 LL.
You can enter the full test mode on an EasyCoder 501 S if a special
Service GAL circuit is fi tted on IC-700 on the CPU board and a
Service Keyboard is connected to P-2, replacing the existing key-
board.
The Service GAL and the Service Keyboard come as a kit, part
number 1-501660-00. The kit is recommended for service of Easy-
Coder 501 S printers without Intermec Shell installed (customized
applications) and facilitates LSS adjustment and communication
reset.
The limited Test Mode for EasyCoder 501 S allows a series of test
labels to be printed (see Chapter 24.1). Enter the mode as follows
(also see diagram on next page):

Lift the printhead.
Press the <Print> key and keep pressing it.
Switch on the power. Keep on pressing <Print>.
Wait a few moments until this message appears in the display:
PRINT TEST LABEL
Lower head!
Release the <Print> key and lower the printhead to Print
position.
This message appears:
<PRINT> = PRINT
Lift head = EXIT
Press the <Print> key. Each time the key is pressed, a new test
label is printed in a loop.
To exit, lift the printhead and press <Print>.
