Chapter 26 Troubleshooting
26.10 LinerLess Cutter
Troubles
The cutter does not work
Is a cutter unit tted and properly connected to the DIN-con-
nector inside the printers front hatch and is the cable visibly
undamaged?
Check the safety microswitch that prevents the cutter from
operating when opened.
Make sure that a CUT command is transmitted in the current
program or that the cutter is enabled by means of a CUT ON
statement.
Is the printhead lifted? If so, lower the printhead.
Is the cabling from the printer's front to P-6 and P-606 on the
CPU board correctly connected and undamaged?
Verify that no paper shavings, residue from label adhesive,
or foreign objects obstruct the cutting operation. Clean as
described in Chapter 12.3. If the cutter is stopped from com-
pleting a cutting operation, the motor may be damaged by over-
load.
Measure the voltage P24 between pin 1 (+24V) and pin 3
(ground) of connector P-6 on the CPU board, when a CUT
command is being issued. Pin 2 should get a supply voltage of
almost 24V. Pin 5 is connected to an internal, home position-
sensing micro-switch of the cutter. The microswitch must be
opened, disconnecting ground from pin 5. At the very end of
a cutting cycle, pin 5 is again connected to ground, when the
microswitch closes.
If no cause of malfunction could be found, the cutter is probably
defective.
The built-in LTS does not work correctly?
Verify that that cable from the cutter connector on the printer's
front is properly connected to P-606 on the CPU board.
Verify that there is no jumper tted on P-607 on the CPU
board.
Adjust the sensitivity according to the same principles as the
front-mounted LTS, see Chapter 12.4.
The cutter does not cut at the right place
Verify that the start and stop adjust values are correctly set.
Verify that the printer is set for the right media type.
Verify that the LSS works correctly correctly, see Chapter
26.2.
Verify that the LTS is managed by the appropriate Fingerprint
instructions.
