4Maintenance
4.1ChargingtheBattery
Ifthechargestatusbecomeslow,anaudibleindicatorsoundsandthe
indicatorlamponthebottomoftheceilinghoistflashes(seealso5.2
Indicatorlightandaudiosignal,page26
).Whenthishappens,thereis
usuallysufficientpowertolowerthepatient.
Itisnotpossibletousethehoistwhilethebatteryischarging.
1.Finishthecurrentliftinprogress
Ifthecurrentliftinprocessdischargesthebatterycompletely,an
externalbackupbatterymaybeusedtotemporarilypowerthe
lift.SeeUsingtheexternalback-upbattery.
2.Movetheceilinghoisttothechargingstation.
3.Placethehandcontrolintothechargingstation.
Ayellowindicatorlamponthechargerindicatesthehandcontrol
isconnected.Theindicatorlampilluminatesredwhilecharging.
4.Whenfullycharged,theindicatorlamponthechargerturns
green.
Aslongastheceilinghoistisnotinuse,leavethehandcontrol
inthechargingstation.
5.Tousetheceilinghoist,removethehandcontrolfromthe
charger.
Keepingthebatterieschargedguaranteeshoistfunctionality
andmaintainsthebatterytoensurealonglifetime.
Iftheaudibleindicatorbeepsandtheblueindicatoronthe
hoistflashesafterthehoisthasbeenfullychargedandonly
beeninuseforashortperiodoftime,thebatterymayneed
exerciseorreplacement.See4.2BatteryMaintenance,page

Iftheceilinghoistwillnotbeusedformorethan4weeks,
Invacarerecommendsdisconnectingthechargerandpulling
theemergencystop.
Thechargerisconnectedtothemainswithamainsplug.
Makesurethatthemainsplugisaccessibleandcanbe
unpluggedifrequired.
4.2BatteryMaintenance
Iftheaudibleindicatorbeepsandtheblueindicatoronthehoist
flashesafterthehoisthasbeenfullychargedandonlybeeninusefor
ashortperiodoftime,thebatterymayneedtobeexercised.
Toenablethebatterytochargefully,thebatteryshouldbeexercised
fromtimetotime.
Followingalongperiodofstorage,itcouldalsobenecessaryto
exercisethebattery.
Itisalsosuggestedthatthebatteryisexercisedinsituationswhere
thehoistisusedinfrequently,and/orwherethehandcontrolis
placedinthechargerforlongperiodsoftime.Inthissituation,there
willalwaysbecapacityenoughforafewlifts,butwerecommendto
exercisethebatteryassoonaspossibleafterwards.
Exerciseofthebatterycanbedonebycharginganddischargingthe
hoistcompletelyseveraltimes.
