x Swing out the carriage arm until it locks in the fully
extended position.

z Press down the carriage arm release lever to extend
the carriage arm.

CAUTION:
Do not push on the carriage arm when it is extended.
Do not forcefully move the carriage or carriage arm by
hand.
Do not hold the carriage or carriage arm while it is
moving.
Failure to follow these instructions may result in
damage to the carriage mechanism.

CAUTION:
Never move the carriage by hand regardless of
whether the power is on or off, otherwise the machine
may be damaged when opening the carriage arm.
Be sure that the carriage is at the home position when
opening the carriage arm (a triangle mark on the
carriage matches with a bar sign on the carriage arm).
