OPERATION
4.3 Communicating in DSC (Digital Selective Call) Mode
TIP
An alarm tone sounds, the DISTRESS CALL Display appears, and the distress message is transmit-
ted. TRANSMITTING appears on the display.
After the distress message has been transmitted, TRANSMITTING changes to TRANSMITTED. Then
NEXT DISTRESS CALL: AFTER 3.6 MIN appears, showing that transmission is completed, and the
amount of time (e.g. 3.6 MIN) remaining to the next transmission.
Transmission intervals are between 3.5 and 4.5 minutes, randomly selected.
Standby reception is carried out on CH16 during 3.5 min. to 4.5 min. pause between distress calls.
The DSC CH70 answer is received on the DSC Watchkeeping Receiver.
Press
STOP
to terminate the
transmission.
The transmission is terminated and the CH16
Status Display appears.
TIP
For any controller which does not have priority,
press
OPE
on the controller currently in use to
change OPE to OFF.
